Little Flag Quilt Pattern

Finished size: 24" x 16-1/4"                          © Marty Frolli 2001

Fabric needed:

1/2 yard (or one fat quarter) of blue print 
1/2 yard of white print 
1/2 yard of red print
1/2 yard for binding, your choice of print
1/2 yard for backing, your choice of print

Cutting:

Blue: cut one rectangle 11-1/2" x 9-1/4"
White: cut 3 white strips 1-3/4" x 15"; cut 3 white strips 1-3/4" x 26"
Red: cut 4 red strips 1-3/4" x 15"; cut 3 red strips 1-3/4" x 26"

Assembly:

1. Referring to picture for placement, sew short strips together, alternating 4 red and 3 white.
Press strips to red. Cut strip set to 9-1/4" x 13-1/2".

2. Referring to picture for placement, sew long strips together, alternating 3 red and 3 white.
Press strips to red. Cut strip set to 8" x 24-1/2".

3. Sew short strip set to blue rectangle. Add long strip set.

4. Layer quilt top, batting and backing. Baste.

5. Quilt as desired by hand or machine. Quilting suggestion: stitch in the ditch between red and white stripes. Stitch diagonal lines 1" apart in blue.

6. Bind quilt. Tack two 1" plastic rings to back for hanging. Sign as desired. See more information on making a quilt label.
